The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI)Maharashtra State Branch in collaboration with P.D. Hinduja College of Nursing celebrated the Breast feeding week 2018, on 9th August, 2018 from 9.00 to 12.30 pm.The programme was held at P.D. Hinduja College of Nursing, 2nd Flr., Auditorium, D Wing, Emerald Court,Kondivita Lane, Marol Pipe Line,Andheri East, Mumbai – 400 059. Almost 60 to 70 participants attended the programme. The programme was jointly co-ordinated by by Ms. Shilpa Shettigar ( Education chairperson TNAI Maharashtra State Branch), and Ms. Jacintha Lobo(HOD, OBGY dept. Cordinator Lactation Nurse Practitioner course) P.D.Hinduja CON.
The theme of the celebration was ‘Breast Feeding: Foundation of Life’
The program began with a prayer song and welcome address by Mrs. Delphina M. Gurav (Lactation Nurse Practitioner student) P.D.Hinduja CON.
Prof.Dr. Jaya Kuruvilla ( Principal, P.D.Hinduja CON.) did the digital inauguration of the programme, and felicitated the TNAI secretaryMaharashtra State Branch, Ms. Prachi Dharap, and the speakers for the day.
The first session was conducted by Ms. Prachi Dharap, Secretary TNAI, Maharashtra State Branch. She introduced the theme of Breast Feeding Week.She highlighted the domainsin breastfeeding that formed the Foundation of life.
The second session was conducted by Dr. Vanessa Sakalidis,(Global Education Manager Medela AG, Switzerland) who effectively delivered the topic: Maximizing the value of Human Milk. Supporting Mothers to initiate build & maintain Lactation. NICU and lactation. It was a wonderful presentation including the incidences and prevalence rates of breastfeeding throughout the various regions of the world.
Dr. Rupal Dalal,(MBBS, MD (USA) Active California Physician. Lactation Consultant (IBCL).)was the last speaker for the day who spoke on Lactation failure Prevention and Management . She performed excellent practical techniques and approaches in handling breast feeding issues. It was a different approach in dealing with breastfeeding problems.
The powerpoint presentation highlighting the TNAI achievements, and awards was displayed to the audience.
The forum was open for discussion and the audiences and the speakers had a wonderful interaction session at the end.Ms. Seema Samudre(Lactation Nurse Practitioner student) P.D.Hinduja CON presented the highlights of the programme.
Finally,Vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ms. Jacintha Lobo,(HOD, OBGY dept. Cordinator Lactation Nurse Practitioner course) P.D.Hinduja CON.
The programme winded up with snacks arranged by TNAI, Maharashtra State Branch.
