Biography of Nurses in Maharashtra
The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the “International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife,” in honor of the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
When we talk of famous nurses, Florence Nightingale is undoubtedly the first name that comes to mind. Popularly known as the “The Lady with the Lamp”, she went beyond the call of duty while tending to wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.
Nurses throughout history have played a pivotal role in bringing about a difference in not just the lives of individual patients, but in promoting major social changes.
Many other nurses made history, too, with their discoveries, compassion, and practice. While we know a great deal about some historical figures, we must also first acknowledge those many brave nurses whose sacrifices and care are lost to history and unknown to us. Because of the nature of their work, nurses often find themselves on the front lines of war and as first responders when disaster strikes. Most of these compassionate professionals don’t make the headlines.
To celebrate the year of nurse 2020, TNAI, Maharashtra State Branch would like to acknowledge the unknown and known nurses of Maharashtra who have worked with dedication and compassion by way of publishing their biography.
Those who are aware of such nurses in the past and also present senior nurses kindly write about them with their photographs.
These biographies will help us to know the nurses of Maharashtra and inspire the future generation.
The biography should be sent in a given format with the name of the author.
